Russia Builds Platform for Renting Agricultural Drones

Students at Kazan State Agrarian University have designed a platform that lets farmers rent agricultural drones much like cars in a car-sharing service. The system promises to make advanced drone technology accessible to even the smallest farms.

In Russia, agricultural drones will soon be available for rent. The new platform aims to democratize access to high-tech equipment, giving small and emerging farms the same opportunities as large enterprises. By making drone leasing fast and simple, the initiative will expand the use of UAVs across the country’s farmland.

The platform, called ErgoBot, works on principles similar to car-sharing services. Through the app, a farmer can select the type of drone needed for specific tasks, reserve it for a set period, and either pick it up independently or request an operator to assist.

The system can supply drones for a wide range of needs: monitoring crops, assessing yields, identifying problem areas, and creating maps for precision farming. UAVs can also apply fertilizers and spray fields, proving to be faster and more efficient than traditional ground-based equipment.
