Russia Deploys Advanced Technologies to Control Ore Quality

Russia has launched a next‑generation digital platform that unifies ore quality control across the entire production chain—from mine to processing plant.

Russia has introduced a new technological platform designed to ensure full-cycle control of ore quality. At the Kachkanarsky Mining and Processing Plant, engineers deployed the Geometallurgy platform, created by the Russian industrial AI group CIFRA. The system aims to stabilize the quality parameters of extracted ore and synchronize mining and beneficiation processes.

Built on a corporate digital backbone, the platform includes MES modules that support continuous data exchange between mining operations and the processing plant. These tools help operators choose the optimal operating modes for equipment based on the real-time characteristics of incoming ore.

Advanced algorithms now support haul truck routing and mine planning, taking into account equipment constraints and geological conditions. A positioning system for excavators and locomotives tracks ore quality and monitors the movement of ore batches throughout the production chain.

All operational information is streamed into a real-time production control center created at the plant. Dispatchers analyze incoming data to maintain stable output and prevent deviations.

The introduction of the Geometallurgy platform has already demonstrated strong results. According to the developer, the plant has increased concentrate output, improved product characteristics and reduced iron losses at different stages of magnetic separation.
