Russia Deploys Drones to Monitor Oil, Gas, and Energy Infrastructure

A new drone-powered monitoring service is set to transform oversight of Russia’s energy sector. The technology promises real-time data and improved safety across pipelines, power lines, and other critical assets.

The Russian company group 'Unmanned Systems' has unveiled an innovative platform for monitoring facilities in the fuel and energy complex. The system provides accurate, real-time data on the condition of pipelines, power transmission lines, and other critical infrastructure, significantly improving safety and management efficiency, according to TASS.

The service integrates geographic information systems, aerial photography, and data analytics. Using drones, it captures photo and video materials, builds orthophoto maps, and records violations with precise coordinates. All information is uploaded to a specialized platform where clients can track progress through a personal account.

Key features include visualization and analysis of aerial monitoring data, flight planning, rapid decision-making, and control over oil, gas, energy, and construction assets. The platform is currently undergoing test operations but has already proven effective in monitoring pipeline and power line projects.

Previously, 'Unmanned Systems' participated in large-scale projects for remote monitoring of industrial facilities. The new service expands opportunities for both businesses and the state in managing the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
