Russia Develops a Training Program for AI Specialists in Colleges
Russia has launched a new college-level program designed to train applied artificial intelligence specialists
A new specialized field of study titled “Integration of Solutions Using AI Technologies” has appeared in Russian colleges. According to the Ministry of Education, this is the first time such a program has been introduced in secondary vocational institutions.
Students entering after the 11th grade will complete the program in two years, while graduates of the 9th grade will study for three. The curriculum focuses on practical skills: data analytics, basic programming, and process automation. Colleges aim to produce entry-level specialists capable of applying AI tools in real-world tasks.
Universities remain the primary source of highly qualified IT talent in Russia. Today, 203 universities across 68 regions educate specialists, and competition for the most in-demand majors reaches hundreds of applicants per seat.
To prepare top-level AI experts, the government selected 20 leading universities. By 2030, these institutions are expected to graduate at least 10,000 programmers.
