Russia Develops Innovative System for Smarter Production Planning

Researchers at Lobachevsky University have unveiled 'SMART-Resource,' software designed to streamline industrial planning, capable of performing up to five million operations in just four hours on a standard office computer.

Scientists from the Research Institute of Mechanics at Lobachevsky University have developed new production planning software called SMART-Resource. The project builds on more than 25 years of the institute’s research and offers a powerful tool for managing complex manufacturing processes.

The system can handle up to five million operations, requiring no more than four hours to complete tasks on an average office PC. It accounts for every stage of the production cycle—from prioritizing orders to transportation logistics.

A key advantage of SMART-Resource is its full compatibility with Astra Linux, one of Russia’s most widely used operating systems. Its flexible design allows algorithms to be customized to client-specific requirements without sacrificing speed or accuracy.

Testing has shown that SMART-Resource outperforms comparable systems, achieving better results in less time. It is expected to become a valuable tool for industries such as machinery and instrument engineering, shipbuilding, and aerospace. In particular, the software is aimed at simplifying operations for companies focused on small-batch and one-off production.

The system is now being implemented at major production enterprises across Russia.
