Russia Equips Construction Helmets With IT Systems for Worker Safety

Smart hardhats outfitted with GPS, sensors, and wireless modules are reshaping safety culture on Russian construction sites.

The Russian developer Hals-Development is introducing digital equipment to monitor compliance with workplace safety rules at its construction projects. The company builds residential and commercial properties across multiple segments, from elite and luxury housing to high-end suburban estates.

At the core of the solution is the Proteqta industrial safety system, which integrates Atom 4.0 modules with GPS/GLONASS and Bluetooth beacons that function even in weak-signal environments. All this technology is installed directly into construction helmets.

The system constantly tracks workers’ locations and monitors their health, significantly improving the culture of safety on job sites. In case of an emergency, workers can instantly connect through the helmet. For communication, LoRaWAN base stations are deployed, with a range of up to 5 kilometers in dense urban areas.

All operational tasks are managed by specialized software, which collects, displays, and analyzes data. Beyond construction, this safety system can be applied across industries, including mining and heavy manufacturing.
