Russia Expands IT Training for the Nuclear Industry

Rosatom is partnering with universities in northern Russia to train tech talent for digital transformation in the nuclear and Arctic sectors.

The government of Arkhangelsk Oblast and Russia’s state atomic energy corporation, Rosatom, have announced a new partnership aimed at strengthening IT workforce development. With digital infrastructure playing a growing role in nuclear energy, the demand for specialists who can manage large data systems and build next-gen platforms is surging.

The initiative was presented during the third 'Arctic — Regions' forum, where Rosatom’s representative Sergey Komov emphasized the scientific and educational potential of the Arkhangelsk region. Rosatom also oversees operations along the Northern Sea Route, which requires further digitization and skilled personnel.

As part of the agreement, Northern (Arctic) Federal University will become a key partner in IT training. In addition, Northern State Medical University will provide specialists to support Arctic-related digital health projects under Rosatom’s purview.
