Russia Is to Set Up Rapid-Response Task Force to Counter Cyber Fraud
Federal agencies, banks, and IT companies are expected to join forces to protect citizens from online scams.

Russia is setting up a rapid-response task force to combat cybercrime, Dmitry Grigorenko, head of the Russian president’s executive office, said at a government meeting. He noted that federal authorities, banks, IT companies, and telecom operators are uniting to counter online fraud. Together, they will identify new scam schemes, develop countermeasures, and maintain a shared database of effective protection tools.
At the Legislative Level
The initiative also includes joint work on laws and regulatory documents aimed at bringing greater order to the online space. A regulatory act is currently being drafted to formally establish the task force and define its mandate.
Late last year, lawmakers submitted to the State Duma a bill containing 20 initiatives designed to protect citizens from cyber theft. The new measures are scheduled to come into force in September.
