Russia Launches a Large-Scale Digital Overhaul of Its Agriculture Ministry

The Russian government is pushing ahead with a massive digital transformation of its federal Ministry of Agriculture. The project is expected to boost efficiency, security, and technological independence across the country’s agribusiness sector.

The government of Russia has announced a sweeping digital overhaul of the Ministry of Agriculture. Among the top priorities are expanding the 'Single Window' system for data collection and analysis within the ministry, and building a service to manage agricultural land resources. Another major initiative will be the creation of an analytical platform for monitoring breeding resources. Development, operation, and cybersecurity of all these services have been entrusted to the domestic company Agropromtsifra.

The government has also set strict deadlines for signing public contracts: projects related to system operations must be completed by July 31, 2026, while all other activities have a deadline of December 31, 2026.

Officials argue that the new measures will improve the overall efficiency of the agricultural sector. At the same time, integrating cutting-edge Russian technologies will strengthen both the ministry’s technological independence and the cybersecurity of the entire agribusiness industry.

Russian-made solutions have long proven their quality and relevance. One of the latest innovations is a smart system for fertilizers and crop protection. The equipment can be mounted on a garden tractor: laser sensors measure the distance to each tree, map their position, and signal the system to start treatment or fertilization.
