Russia Launches AI-Driven Platform to Monitor Environmental Risks

A new domestic system uses artificial intelligence to track air and water quality across the country and minimize ecological and economic damage.

Russian developers have created the country’s first AI-powered solution for environmental monitoring, designed to track air and water quality. Named the 'Proactive Environmental Risk Management System,' the platform uses machine learning and advanced analytics to detect and respond to potential threats. It has already been added to the national registry of domestic software.

Part of the MTS EcoMonitoring program, the system operates 24/7 to prevent environmental violations and reduce risks to both nature and businesses. Experts estimate that the platform could help companies avoid financial losses ranging from 34.4 to 370 million rubles annually.

The system is fully compatible with Russian-made measuring equipment and delivers a detailed impact forecast from specific pollution sources within 48 hours. It is already in use in several regions, including Samara, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Yakutia.

By integrating artificial intelligence into environmental oversight, Russia is simultaneously protecting its ecosystems and saving industries millions.
