Russia Launches AI-Powered Web Filter to Protect Home Internet

A new cybersecurity tool from Rostelecom and Solar Group is shielding families and remote workers from phishing, malware, and unwanted content.

Russian telecom giant Rostelecom, in collaboration with cybersecurity company Solar Group, has unveiled a new consumer-focused cybersecurity service called 'Unwanted Website Filter.' The platform automatically blocks phishing and malicious websites while giving users control to restrict specific types of content—including adult material, violent propaganda, online gambling, and scam-related content.

The tool is particularly relevant for families with children, older adults, and remote workers. Parents can now better shield kids from cyberbullying and explicit materials, while seniors are protected from fraudulent schemes. For corporate clients and employees working from home, the filter offers critical protection from spoofed banking and government websites.

The filtering database, which covers over 99% of internet resources, is updated daily. Users can customize their experience by creating personal allow-lists or defining specific categories for blocking.

Alexey Demyanenko, Head of Mass Market Products at Rostelecom, emphasized that “fighting cyberthreats is one of the major challenges of our time.” Vladimir Bengin from Solar Group added that the new service will help restore public trust in the internet by significantly reducing fraud risks.
