Russia Launches an “Air Bridge” to Deliver Medicines to the Arctic
Russia is launching an ‘air bridge’ for medical delivery to Arctic settlements, using autonomous drones to overcome extreme distances and life‑threatening logistics challenges.

Yakutia Introduces Drone-Based Delivery to Remote Territories
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is turning to advanced technology to address critical challenges in one of the harshest regions on the planet. A flagship initiative is the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles for emergency delivery of medicines to Arctic settlements.
The uniqueness of the Yakutian project, named “Air Bridge,” lies in the creation of Russia’s first regular unmanned logistics network connecting remote communities. This system becomes especially crucial when traditional routes—such as winter roads and river crossings—are inaccessible or unsafe.
A Foundation for Future Innovation
Yakutia confirmed its status as one of Russia’s technological leaders by winning the “Regions” category of the national Leaders of Artificial Intelligence Award. The recognition was granted for “Cyber Guardian,” a neural‑network–based application that helps users identify fraudulent messages in real time and teaches essential digital‑literacy skills.
Digital transformation in the republic involves not only deploying individual services but also building the foundation for long‑term innovation. Yakutia is constructing modern data centers, including infrastructure designed to support AI‑driven systems. The region is steadily developing competencies in high‑tech industries to harness them for economic growth and improving social well‑being.
