Russia Launches Compact Fingerprint ID System for Migration Control

The new Russian-made biometric terminal is designed for identity verification of foreign nationals using fingerprints and photos.

A Russian tech company has developed a compact biometric terminal called the RDI (Radar Documenting Instrument), aimed at streamlining the registration and verification of foreign citizens through fingerprint scanning and photography. The system, named 'Inferit Technika,' was introduced by the IT vendor Inferit, part of the Softline Group.

The system is expected to be a valuable tool for employees at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, migration centers, border control points, and other institutions involved in immigration monitoring.

Powered by Russian-made hardware, the RDI features up to 64 gigabytes of RAM. Its design includes physical security enhancements, such as a loop for a padlock and a Kensington lock slot, to prevent theft or unauthorized access.

The Inferit complex has already been added to the official registry of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, indicating its approved reliability and national significance.

Earlier, another company under the Softline Group unveiled a secure communication platform meant to replace the SWIFT system, enabling safe information exchange between domestic and international financial institutions.
