Russia Plans to Use Delivery Robots for One-Third of Shipments

Autonomous delivery systems are expected to handle a third of all cargo transport in Russia within the next few years, according to industry leaders.

In the coming years, unmanned delivery robots could be responsible for a third of all cargo shipments in Russia. The projection was shared by Mikhail Aronson, CEO of the Digital Group (GK Tsifra), during the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia (CIPR) conference as reported by TASS.

Aronson noted that Yandex is a key player in developing scalable cost-efficient solutions for robotic delivery. The company aims to reduce expenses by moving beyond isolated pilot programs which tend to be prohibitively expensive.

The 10th annual CIPR conference took place in Nizhny Novgorod from June 2 to 5 and included participants from over 30 countries. Discussions centered on big data, digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, and most notably, the growing role of data-driven economics and government digital transformation.
