Russia Plans Unified Marketplace for School Supplies and Equipment

The digital platform aims to streamline procurement, cut costs, and give schools faster access to certified domestic products.

Russia is preparing to launch a specialized digital marketplace for government procurement of school equipment and textbooks. The project, introduced at an international forum in Vladivostok, is backed by e-commerce giant Wildberries, Russ, and the state-run publishing group Prosveshchenie.

According to the developers, no school can function effectively without up-to-date equipment, and a dedicated procurement system is essential. The new platform applies best practices from e-commerce to simplify school supply chains.

Officials describe the initiative as the start of digital modernization in public-sector procurement. At the federal level, it represents the creation of a new national trade model.

The marketplace will fully automate procurement. Schools will be able to place orders directly with vetted domestic suppliers, without intermediaries. Delivery times could shrink from 21 days to just three. The system will also ensure unified, transparent pricing and provide regulators with full oversight of every transaction. Only certified products will be listed, guaranteeing quality and optimizing budget spending.

The project’s first pilot phase began September 1 in several regions. After analyzing the results, developers will decide whether to scale the platform nationwide.
