Russia's Gosuslugi Portal to Add Emergency Button for Blocking Fraudulent Transactions

Russia's State Duma has passed the Anti-Fraud 2.0 bill in its third and final reading. Under the legislation, the Gosuslugi (State Services portal) platform will gain an emergency button that allows users to instantly suspend remote financial transactions. The law also requires banks and telecommunications providers to compensate victims if they fail to implement mandated anti-fraud measures.

When activated, the button will send a signal to the Antifrod (Anti-Fraud information system) government platform. The notification will then be automatically forwarded to banks and telecom operators, enabling them to quickly intervene and disrupt fraudulent activity.

"The button will accelerate the transmission of alerts about unlawful activity, simplify incident reporting, and improve response times among service providers," the State Duma said.

The government will still need to define the specific procedures that banks and telecommunications operators must follow after receiving such notifications.
