Russia to Build Digital Protection for Siberian and Far Eastern Gas Transport Systems

A joint project will safeguard 14,000 kilometers of pipelines and more than 200 industrial facilities across Siberia and the Far East with a unified digital infrastructure.

Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk and MegaFon have signed an agreement to create a unified, secure digital infrastructure for gas transportation systems in Siberia and the Russian Far East. The project covers the protection of 14,000 kilometers of pipelines and over 200 production facilities.

Under the agreement, the telecom operator will provide a reliable communication backbone and introduce digital solutions into the gas transport system. The initiative includes stable mobile connectivity as well as a monitoring system for equipment and software.

A key focus is on the security and resilience of main gas pipelines. To achieve this, the operator will deploy a secure trunked radio network using domestically developed software and equipment. This will ensure stable communications and minimize risks at facilities, including those located in remote areas of Siberia and the Far East.
