Russia to Create a Unified Cybersecurity Shield for Its Transportation System

Russia has begun building a nationwide cybersecurity center to protect its entire transportation sector. A key priority will be safeguarding mobile apps and digital services used by drivers.

The country is setting up a single online hub dedicated to defending the transport system. Industry representatives from trucking, taxi, and public services have long called for a shared platform to exchange data on cyberattacks. The initiative to establish such a center for monitoring leaks, incidents, and data exchange was proposed by Alexey Shelobkov, CEO of ICS Holding, during a meeting with Transport Ministry officials at the Museum of Cryptography.

Special attention will be given to protecting artificial intelligence technologies, which are increasingly used in navigation services to assist drivers and logistics specialists.

The unified document will serve as a foundation for joint work between the government and private sector.

According to Artem Yurenkov, Director of the Digital Development Department of Russia’s Transport Ministry, cybersecurity is one of the ministry’s most critical challenges, particularly in light of the rapid growth of autonomous transport.

“Our main goal is not just to shield technologies from external threats, but to create a resilient and secure digital environment for the development of the entire transportation ecosystem,” Yurenkov emphasized.
