Russia to Launch Its Largest AI-Powered Dairy Farm This Fall

A new robotic dairy facility in Bashkortostan will house 3,500 cows and use artificial intelligence to manage everything from feeding to climate control.

Artificial intelligence is becoming a core feature of Russia’s agricultural sector. This fall, the country’s largest robotic dairy farm will open in Bashkortostan, where robots will ensure comfort, health, and productivity for a herd of 3,500 cows. The system will automate nearly every task—from counting livestock and distributing feed to cleaning and maintaining ideal temperature conditions. According to regional head Radiy Khabirov, this will be the largest AI-driven dairy complex in Russia.

Experts say the country’s agricultural robotization is progressing rapidly—not by replicating Western systems, but by building domestic alternatives. Vyacheslav Cohen, an IT and digital marketing specialist, noted that while Russian agribusiness once relied on foreign hardware and software, the post-sanctions era has seen a surge in local development. Today, Russian engineers are creating custom digital platforms tailored to specific agricultural needs.

These IT firms—operating in regions such as Krasnodar and Tatarstan—are building smart farming solutions not just for livestock but also for grain production and other sectors.
