Russia to Launch Major Engineering and Digital Development Hub for Electrical Technology

The new center is set to strengthen the country’s position as a technological leader in energy, mechanical engineering, and shipbuilding.

Russia is creating its first-of-its-kind Center for Advanced Electrical Engineering Development, a facility designed to tackle engineering, technological, and digital challenges simultaneously. Devices and systems developed at the center will go into serial production at Russian enterprises and eventually find applications both domestically and in international markets.

Moscow plans to expand such research hubs and ensure their growth with steadily increasing annual funding. This approach aims to achieve technological sovereignty, fully meet internal demand, and share the latest innovations with partner nations. The center’s funding is expected to exceed 100 million rubles (about $1.23 million) over the next few years.

A special focus will be placed on digital technologies. The center will design digital twins for the production of core elements in energy conversion and storage systems. Scientists will also develop controlled power interfaces and algorithms for hybrid energy systems. In addition, the hub will generate IT solutions for marine electrical engineering, including energy converters and microgrids powered by renewable sources. Preparing skilled personnel will also be a key priority.
