Russia to Launch Production of High-Tech Amphibious Work Machine

Designed for dredging, waterway cleanup, and mineral extraction, the new amphibious platform is built to outperform foreign counterparts.

Russia is set to begin production of an innovative amphibious machine for large-scale hydraulic engineering projects, developed by a shipbuilding plant in the Chelyabinsk region. The multi-role platform can dredge riverbeds, clean water bodies, and extract non-metallic minerals — all while integrating advanced features that its makers say surpass foreign models.

Seven years in the making, the machine incorporates a triple-pontoon design with a folding boom, a walking pile system, interchangeable attachments, and Russian-made software. Artificial intelligence elements are expected to boost efficiency by at least 20%. A 3D positioning system allows operators to match real-time work progress against a digital model of the riverbed.

Plans are already underway for a remote-controlled, unmanned version. The first prototype is complete, with three more units scheduled for assembly by the end of this year and at least 12 autonomous machines targeted for production in 2026.
