Russia to Open Artificial Intelligence Hub for Industry and Healthcare

A new AI center in Bashkortostan aims to prevent industrial accidents and improve medical decision-making.

In Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, a new Artificial Intelligence Center will focus on developing advanced technologies for both industry and healthcare. Initial investments in the project will reach up to 150 million rubles (about $1.7 million), according to local media.

The initiative is led by Sergey Gumerov, a native of the city of Beloretsk, a graduate of its computer school, and now CEO of a St. Petersburg-based IT company. Calling Beloretsk his “place of strength,” Gumerov says he wants to bring high-tech projects to smaller cities, not just major urban hubs.

The center’s work will target three key areas: predicting and preventing industrial accidents, reducing costs in manufacturing and utilities, and advancing medical diagnostics. In healthcare, AI will be used to help doctors make more accurate diagnoses, forecast disease progression, and choose the best treatment options.

The project highlights how artificial intelligence is expanding beyond Russia’s metropolitan regions, driving innovation in smaller cities. By applying AI to real-world challenges, the center aims to reduce risks, increase efficiency, and improve quality of life.
