Russia Turns to AI to Track Land Rent Debt
An AI-powered service now helps Russian citizens quickly obtain official debt statements, reducing bureaucratic errors and easing the workload of public servants.

Russia’s rapid expansion of digital public services is being hailed as a “digital breakthrough,” making government interactions as simple as using a smartphone app. One of the latest updates focuses on land rental payments.
Since June, the Moscow Region’s e-government portal has used an AI system to automatically verify uploaded documents. The neural network has already processed more than 3 million files, covering 119 government services and recognizing about 300 types of documents.
The new feature streamlines the issuance of debt statements for land rent. The AI analyzes documents submitted with online applications, flags mistakes, and suggests corrections.
Officials say the system not only makes the process more convenient for citizens but also reduces the number of service denials caused by paperwork errors, while freeing up staff to handle more complex cases.
