Russia Unveils AI-Powered Robot to Revolutionize Crop Yield Assessment

A new AI robot developed in Russia is set to boost agricultural efficiency by 25% by providing real-time, precise crop yield monitoring.

Russian tech firm Cognitive Pilot has launched production of the nation’s first artificial intelligence-powered robot designed to assess crop yield for both traditional and exotic plants. According to TASS, citing the company’s press service, the robot is expected to improve the efficiency of fieldwork by 25%.

Yield assessment has long been a challenge in agriculture. Mistakes in this process lead to lower product quality and, ultimately, higher prices. Cognitive Pilot estimates that without accurate monitoring, farm profits could drop by as much as 25%.

The new robot, called Cognitive Crop Control, evaluates the quality and quantity of harvested grain in real time—tracking size, moisture, breakage, debris, temperature, and weight. It also generates detailed field maps highlighting yield parameters, identifies zones that require crop protection, and calculates harvest volume with high precision. The AI system can even suggest adjustments to harvester settings to ensure optimal performance.

The neural networks powering the robot were trained for seven years using real-world data from farms in Russia, Belarus, Brazil, and South Africa. As a result, the robot is ready to operate on agricultural land anywhere in the world.

Cognitive Pilot plans to produce the first 1,000 units of Cognitive Crop Control by the end of the year. Manufacturing will take place in Tomsk.
