Russia Uses Artificial Intelligence in Federal Budget Planning
Artificial intelligence is now part of Russia’s federal budgeting process, helping calculate scenarios and prepare funding requests

AI Enters the Budget Process
Russia’s Minister of Finance, Anton Siluanov, announced the active use of artificial intelligence in federal budget planning. He spoke at the 10th International Financial University Forum in Moscow, titled Russia: The Image of the Future.
According to Siluanov, AI now performs two core functions. First, it calculates alternative scenarios for revenue flows into the national budget system. Second, it assists other ministries in preparing accurate and well‑structured funding applications.
Digital Tools for the Economy of Tomorrow
The minister directly linked AI usage to global macroeconomic trends. According to him, advanced technologies will become the new engine of Russia’s economic growth.
Russia continues to expand domestic digital solutions across nearly every sector — from industry to education. Federal funding for IT development over the next three years is expected to reach roughly approximately $33b.
