Russian AI Helps Cut Logistics Costs

A new AI model developed in Russia is reducing the cost of container storage and routing—technology that is already drawing interest abroad.

Russian researchers have created an artificial intelligence model that cuts logistics expenses in seaports, a solution that has already demonstrated strong performance. According to Evgeny Vlasov, Vice President for International Relations at Far Eastern Federal University, the technology reduces operational costs by 5%.

The model was tested at the Far Eastern Artificial Intelligence Center. The system optimizes container storage, container use, and internal port logistics. By applying AI-driven algorithms, the solution sharply reduces associated costs—an especially important factor in high‑volume cargo operations.

Vietnam in Focus

International partners have already taken interest in the Russian development, prompting researchers to adapt the AI model to the Vietnamese language.

“The Joint Russian–Vietnamese Artificial Intelligence Center has become a platform for exporting Russian technology to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. At the moment, the strongest interest comes from colleagues in Ho Chi Minh City, one of the region’s major port hubs. We have received a proposal from a financial‑industrial group in South Vietnam to develop a networked educational program together with a local university,” Vlasov added.
