Russian Colleges Launch First AI Integration Program

Starting in 2025, Russian vocational colleges began offering a new specialty focused on integrating artificial intelligence into practical solutions—the country’s first systemic step toward embedding AI in technical education.

According to Viktor Neumyvakin, director of the Department of State Policy in Vocational Education at the Ministry of Education, the new program titled “Integration of Solutions Using AI Technology” marks a turning point in preparing the workforce for an AI-driven economy. Neumyvakin, speaking at the finals of the High-Tech Championship, emphasized that this is the first structured effort to weave AI into college curricula.

He predicted that AI will continue to expand across industries, requiring new digital modules in educational programs. Teachers, in turn, will need methodological support with materials and training to use neural networks for routine tasks and student assessments.

Earlier, State Duma deputies proposed creating a nationwide system of online clubs and extracurricular activities dedicated to teaching AI. They argue that digital lessons should be introduced as early as elementary school, with vocational and technical colleges tasked with consolidating this knowledge.
