Russian Diamond Miner Successfully Tests Domestic Database Management System

ALROSA, one of the world’s largest diamond mining companies, has stress-tested a Russian-made database system that handled 700 simultaneous users without a hitch.

The Tantor Postgres database management system, developed by Russian IT firm Tantor Labs, was successfully trialed within ALROSA, a major diamond mining corporation. The experiment simulated the simultaneous workload of 700 users over a six-week period.

Engineers evaluated stability, performance, fault tolerance, and compatibility with other software under real-world industrial conditions. The load of 700 users corresponds to ALROSA’s expected peak corporate demand, but next year the company plans to push the system further with a 4,000-user test.

Particular attention was given to the Application Performance Index (APDEX), an industry standard for measuring user satisfaction with system responsiveness. Tantor Postgres achieved an “Excellent” rating, confirming smooth performance even under extreme loads. The system ran without failures for the entire test, underscoring its potential for adoption in the IT infrastructure of major Russian corporations.
