Russian Drone 'Veter.Spasatel' to Warn of Wildfires

Built entirely from domestic components, the new 'Veter.Spasatel' ('Rescuer') drone is designed to monitor natural disasters and coordinate emergency operations across Russia.

The Russian design bureau Veter has unveiled its latest development—the 'Veter.Spasatel' unmanned aerial system. It is the first drone for monitoring emergencies to be assembled entirely from Russian-made components.

The drone addresses key tasks of the Ministry of Emergency Situations: monitoring natural disasters, major wildfires, floods, and industrial accidents. It streams live video and is equipped with a thermal imager, enabling operations at night, in smoke, or in fog, and allowing rescuers to quickly locate victims.

Flight performance ensures high efficiency: the drone can stay airborne for up to 90 minutes and cover a radius of up to 23 kilometers. This is sufficient for rapid situation assessment, coordinating rescue teams, and overseeing recovery efforts after emergencies are contained.

The system can also be deployed for evacuations from hazardous areas and during search-and-rescue missions. Domestic drones like this make it possible to resolve crises faster and with fewer losses.
