Russian Engineers Create 'Eagle Vision' Glasses for Customs and Police

The augmented-reality device scans cargo and vehicles in real time, flagging smuggling and violations without ever opening a container or stopping a car.

Russian engineers have developed AI-powered “eagle vision” glasses that could transform border security and traffic policing.

The glasses, which resemble ordinary eyewear, hide two cameras in the frame capable of capturing images even in the dark. A neural processor embedded in the temple analyzes the feed within fractions of a second and projects key information directly onto the lenses. According to broadcaster REN TV, the system highlights container seals and IDs, instantly flagging tampering or substitution. It can even match the cargo manifest to the actual load, shutting down “swap-on-the-go” schemes.

A second version is tailored for traffic police. By simply looking at a vehicle, the AI reads its license plate, checks it against databases, and displays a color-coded alert: green for clear, yellow or red for violations. The device runs a full day on one charge, resists harsh weather, and streams video to remote colleagues for live consultation.

Developers say the smart glasses not only enhance customs and traffic control but also set a new global benchmark for how augmented reality can be deployed in law enforcement.
