Russian Expert: AI Could Soon Build Games Tailored to Each Player

Neural networks are already speeding up game development, and experts predict they will one day generate entire worlds customized to individual players.

In Russia, game developers are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence at nearly every stage of production. Generative AI now handles content creation, voice acting, scripts, animation, non-player character (NPC) behavior, and performance optimization—cutting both costs and development time.

According to Svyatoslav Pegov, director of the Center for Sports Programming at Ufa University of Science and Technology, the next frontier is personalization. In the future, neural networks may be able to build entire games on demand, adapting mechanics to match the preferences of a specific player. AI-driven characters could also evolve beyond pre-written dialogue, holding real conversations with users instead of reciting scripted lines.

The shift is already visible. A new Russian project called Guardian of Altai used AI tools to recreate elements of medieval Tengrism, a spiritual tradition of Turkic and Altai tribes. Developers digitized shamanic rituals with neural networks, turning them into interactive game mechanics.

Pegov argues that the future of gaming is inseparable from AI. While neural networks can already enable solo developers to build full games, human oversight will remain critical. The tools will only make game creation faster and more accessible year after year.
