Russian Game Studios Strike Key Deals at Tokyo Game Show 2025

For the first time, a Moscow-led delegation signed agreements with Japanese and Korean partners, signaling Russia’s deeper integration into the international gaming market.

Russian game developers struck key deals at Tokyo Game Show 2025, marking the industry’s biggest showing yet on the global stage.

Twelve major Russian studios participated, including Buka, 4Game, and 1C Game Studios. Within the first days, concrete deals were reached.

Publisher 4Game, operating under the Fogame brand, secured exclusive rights as distributor of PC keys for the highly anticipated Korean RPG‑action title Crimson Desert on Steam across Russia and the CIS. Sales are slated to begin in March 2026, with pre‑orders already open at a special price.

Another breakthrough came from Russian app store RuStore. Speaking to RIA Novosti, Business Development Director Ilya Ulyanov said preliminary agreements had been reached with Japanese companies to publish their titles in Russia. He added that more contracts were expected in the next two to three days, with the main goal being to attract Japanese developers to the Russian market.

Observers say the deals highlight the rising influence of Russia’s gaming sector. By securing distribution agreements with major international publishers and entering Japan, Russian companies are not only strengthening technological sovereignty but also building cultural bridges through gaming.
