Russian Mapping Service Integrated Into MAX Messenger
MAX, Russia’s national messenger, is replacing foreign tools with domestic technology. Its new location-sharing feature now runs on Yandex Maps, boosting both convenience and digital sovereignty.

The latest MAX update introduces full integration with Yandex Maps. When users share a location in chat, recipients see an interactive city map that can be explored in detail. A button to ‘Open in Yandex Maps’ provides deeper navigation via the app or web.
This change fully replaces previously used foreign mapping services. By relying on Yandex’s API, MAX enhances both usability and independence from external platforms.
A More Convenient and Secure Platform
Yandex Maps brings more than static maps: users gain real-time traffic data, street panoramas, and detailed information about local businesses. The integration makes navigation and daily planning inside the messenger far smoother.
The update is part of a broader trend. MAX has already integrated the AI assistant Alice, capable of generating images and summarizing texts, pictures, and videos directly in chat. Another recent feature allows users to hide disturbing content, adding a layer of safety.
Together, these upgrades signal MAX’s ambition to grow beyond messaging — into a secure, all-in-one digital environment built on Russian technology.
