Russian Marketplaces Begin Checking Products Against Nine Government Registries
A new nationwide digital service lets online marketplaces cross-check product listings against government registry data before publishing them.

The tool was developed to implement the Platform Economy Law, which took effect on October 1, 2026.
The Ministry of Digital Development’s service runs on the Unified System of Regulatory and Reference Information (ESNSI), a federal information system that consolidates data from nine government registries. These include the Eurasian Economic Union’s register of medicines, registries of pesticides and agrochemicals, and systems for accreditation and monitoring the circulation of precious metals. Data from Rospatent’s trademark registry will be added soon. Experts say the system will speed up listing checks and make online shopping safer.
He added that the new rules would not affect compliant sellers, since these checks were already part of the process of preparing products for sale.
