Russian Petrochemical Giant Automates Cargo Logistics with Digital Platform

SIBUR has rolled out a homegrown digital logistics system powered by Yandex Routing, bringing real-time tracking and automation to one of Russia’s largest petrochemical supply chains.
SIBUR, a major Russian petrochemical holding, has implemented a domestic digital logistics system that automates its entire delivery chain. The project was developed in partnership with Yandex Routing, which provided a B2B service for route planning, tracking, and real-time delivery management.
Until recently, the company’s logistics teams manually collected location data from trucks. Customer services offered little forecasting capability, and delays were common. Now, all trucking operations are integrated into online tracking, fully synchronized with the company’s ERP system. Every step—from loading to unloading—can be monitored, and customers receive automatic updates on their orders.
Crucially, the transition to the digital system required minimal investment. According to SIBUR, the cost amounts to less than 0.05 percent of the price per ton of product. That’s a key factor for industrial shippers, where logistics costs per unit strongly affect overall economics. Company officials stress that digital technologies reduce pressure on infrastructure, increase demand, and improve responsiveness to disruptions. In their view, digital tools are becoming the standard, not an add-on service.
