Russian Satellite Operator to Unveil Smart Fleet Project

At the Neva 2025 expo in St. Petersburg, a new digital ship management system will showcase how real-time monitoring can slash operating costs for shipping companies.

St. Petersburg is preparing to host one of the industry’s landmark events—the 18th International Neva 2025 Exhibition, running from September 23 to 26. The show is recognized as the largest civil shipbuilding exhibition in Eastern Europe.

A highlight of the business program will be the unveiling of the “Digital Ship” project by RTKomm, Russia’s federal satellite operator. The system is positioned as a game-changer in fleet management.

The “Digital Ship” is designed to optimize costs. Beyond satellite communications, ships are equipped with sensors and flow meters integrated with monitoring services. The system tracks engines, machinery, and critical components in real time, enabling operators to detect malfunctions early and prevent serious breakdowns.

The platform also monitors cargo hold temperatures to safeguard goods. Fuel consumption is under special scrutiny: the system checks bunker fuel quality and improves usage efficiency, enabling up to 7% savings per ton. Cybersecurity features are built into the complex, ensuring ship systems are shielded against external threats.
