Russian Scientists Develop Method to Improve 6G Networks

Researchers at Skoltech have created a new data-coding method that speeds up error correction, paving the way for faster and more efficient 6G wireless networks.

Scientists from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) have unveiled a new data-coding technique for wireless communication systems. The development accelerates error-correction algorithms that address random mistakes occurring during wireless data transmission.

The method is an improved version of algorithms already used in many wireless systems, including today’s 5G networks and the next-generation 6G systems under development. Traditional error-correction requires multiple iterations to fix transmission errors, which can slow network performance. Sixth-generation wireless networks, however, demand faster and more efficient correction methods.

According to Skoltech professor Alexey Frolov, the new approach significantly outperforms classical 5G codes, correcting more errors in less time and reducing overall latency in communication.
