Russian Scientists Showcase the Future of Human-AI Collaboration

At the IROS 2025 conference in Hangzhou, researchers from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) unveiled eight groundbreaking projects — a record for any Russian team — offering a glimpse into the future of intelligent robotics.

A Broad Spectrum of Innovation

The IROS 2025 conference, held in Hangzhou, China, is one of the world’s most prominent events dedicated to intelligent systems. At this year’s event, MIPT presented eight scientific and practical projects, each tested on working robots. This range of research covered nearly every aspect of robotic intelligence — from collective machine interaction and motion control to route planning, strategic learning, and language model integration.

One of the most promising directions involves teaching robots to understand natural human language. By embedding advanced language models into robotic control systems, engineers aim to create assistants that can interpret and act on everyday speech commands, making human-robot collaboration more intuitive and efficient.

The Birth of a Smarter Robot

Among the key highlights was the debut of an anthropomorphic robot developed at MIPT’s robotics lab. Its unique kinematics and intelligent motion control system enable the robot to walk smoothly and maintain balance across varying terrains. More importantly, it can adapt to its environment — a major step toward creating ‘smart’ robots capable of safely working alongside humans.

The MIPT team’s vision represents not just technical progress, but a step toward a new era of coexistence between people and intelligent machines. Their work shows how Russian science continues to contribute to global innovation in robotics, focusing on practical, human-centered applications.
