Russian Students Sweep the Podium at the International AI Olympiad
Russian school and university students took all the medals at the Second International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (FAIO), outperforming 291 teams from seven countries in programming, data analysis, and machine learning.

The tournament, held in Astana, brought together high school and first-year university students from across seven nations. Russia was represented by eight teams — and all of them secured gold, silver, and bronze medals in a highly competitive field. The teams were trained by instructors from the Central University, one of the country’s leading institutions for technical education.
Solving Real-World AI Problems
The winners and prize holders came from different parts of Russia, including Novosibirsk, Buryatia, and the Sirius Educational Center in Sochi.
The Olympiad aims to popularize IT disciplines and foster early interest in artificial intelligence among young people. Participants solve applied problems that reflect the real challenges faced by professional data scientists and software engineers.
Russian teams demonstrated exceptional training, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of AI methodologies — a sign of the country’s strong educational foundation in the field.
