Demand is growing in Russia for an online car sales service, the Interior Ministry’s press service said. Since the service was launched in 2024, more than 70,000 people have used it. In 2025 alone, the figure reached 50,000. In 2026, more than 6,500 users have registered electronic sales contracts so far.

Sales contracts can be concluded entirely online with the same legal force as paper documents. Completing the form takes no more than ten minutes, provided users have an account on Gosuslugi (state services portal) and verified access to the Goskluch (digital signature app).

Checking a Vehicle’s Legal Status

The service automatically verifies whether a vehicle is under arrest or listed as wanted. If a car is flagged, the transaction is automatically blocked. Buyers can also see whether the vehicle is pledged as collateral, although the final decision in such cases remains with them.

According to the Interior Ministry, all information in the contract is pulled directly from Gosuslugi, minimizing human error. The electronic document can be submitted to courts or tax authorities and may be used if the deal is terminated. Officials say digital services are making one of life’s major purchases simpler and more convenient.
