Russia’s First AI Rulebook Will Target the Transport Sector

The country’s first industry-specific AI guidelines—dubbed the “White Book”—are set to launch this fall, starting with transportation.

Russia has drafted its first comprehensive set of AI rules tailored for a specific industry, and transportation will be the testing ground. The so-called “White Book” will debut October 1 at the Digital Transportation Forum, according to Yevgeny Charkin, Deputy CEO and CIO of Russian Railways, who announced the initiative at the international rail expo Pro//Motion.Expo.

The guidelines are designed for tech companies operating in transportation and aim to standardize and accelerate the digital modernization of the sector.

Development of the White Book brought together major players, including Russian Railways, Aeroflot, Sberbank, and Yandex Go. Their combined expertise helped consolidate best practices and map out strategic directions for deploying AI across transportation services.
