Russia’s Telecoms Are Waging War on Spam—Rostelecom Rolls Out AI-Powered Call ID

Russia’s telecom giants are stepping up their fight against robocalls, phone spam, and fraud—and Rostelecom is leading the charge with its new AI-driven feature: “Anti-Spam for Calls.”

The service automatically identifies the type of organization behind an incoming call and displays it on your screen before you even pick up. Whether it’s a bank, a government agency, or a commercial company, you’ll know right away. If no information is available, only the number appears—a subtle red flag that the call could be suspicious.

Built on Big Data analytics, the system processes millions of user reports and public datasets to classify callers with precision. It’s real-time call filtering at telecom scale—and it’s free.

“With the rise of digital services comes a wave of new scam tactics,” said Olga Kravtsova, Head of MVNO Products at Rostelecom. “Our solution empowers users to quickly assess incoming calls and dodge potential fraud. It’s especially crucial for those bombarded with ad spam and phishing attempts.”

The feature works out of the box on most modern smartphones, no setup or app download required. It’s auto-enabled for all subscribers.

Rostelecom’s Anti-Spam is more than a call filter—it’s a nationwide safety net, designed to reinforce Russia’s push toward a secure digital ecosystem, where trust begins before you answer the phone.
