Scientists in Tyumen Develop Digital Assistant for Smart Farming

Researchers in Tyumen have built a mobile app that guides farm machinery drivers in real time, calculating optimal routes and fertilizer amounts to save resources and boost crop yields.

Scientists at the Northern Trans-Urals State Agrarian University created and patented innovative soil databases covering nitrogen and phosphorus regimes. These datasets formed the foundation of a new mobile app designed for agricultural machinery operators. The development has already been officially registered with Rospatent and is ready for deployment in major agribusiness holdings in the Tyumen region and beyond.

The app enables a shift from a one-size-fits-all approach to precision farming. It analyzes the specific conditions of each field, soil type, and crop as machinery moves, issuing real-time instructions for differentiated application of organic fertilizers.

The innovation addresses several key challenges in modern agriculture. First, it delivers substantial cost savings: farmers reduce fertilizer expenses by applying nutrients only where needed. Second, it boosts yields by ensuring balanced plant nutrition. Third, it offers a major environmental benefit by preventing soil oversaturation with harmful substances.
