Smart Cameras in Russia Monitor Playgrounds

Artificial intelligence is being deployed on playgrounds to spot vandalism, fights, and other violations—sending reports to police in just five minutes.

Russian cities are increasingly using surveillance cameras to maintain public order. Equipped with AI algorithms, the systems don’t just record footage but also analyze events in real time and respond to them. The neural network can identify smoking in prohibited areas, vandalism, fights, illegal advertising, and other violations.

In St. Petersburg, 115 AI-powered cameras have been installed at playgrounds. They operate around the clock, capturing infractions and transmitting data to the police within five minutes. The feeds are integrated into the city’s surveillance system. The project aims to create a safer and more controlled urban environment. By the end of 2026, another 900 playgrounds are expected to be equipped with such cameras.

Earlier reports highlighted how AI-driven cameras are being used to detect forest fires, flag dangerous driving, and record road accidents. Beyond recording incidents, the system also analyzes traffic, helping optimize road use and reduce congestion.
