Smart MISHA Takes Control of Aircraft in Russian Skies

A new digital module automatically assigns aircraft to flights.

Rossiya Airlines has introduced a unique system for predictive aircraft management. The solution is called the Intelligent Scheduling Module for air routes — or simply MISHA. The system automatically allocates aircraft to routes, taking into account their technical condition and network logistics.

Monitoring Aircraft 24/7

Rossiya Airlines CEO Yan Burg said the system is already delivering tangible results. First, specialists freed up by automation have been reassigned to other critical tasks. Second, the risk of errors and unplanned costs has been reduced to a minimum. For example, an aircraft requiring maintenance is no longer sent to an airport that cannot service it. In addition, flight schedules now recover more quickly after unforeseen events such as bad weather.

MISHA operates autonomously. The system monitors every aircraft around the clock and, if needed, adjusts the schedule for the entire fleet within 30 seconds, notifying all relevant services. Assigning 2,500 flights three to ten days ahead is now completed without human involvement in an average of five minutes.

Indispensable During Peak Loads

In the event of large-scale disruptions, the system is expected to cut passenger waiting times by 1.5 to 2 times. The most noticeable positive impact is anticipated during peak periods, such as the upcoming New Year holidays.

MISHA is a vivid example of successful digital transformation in Russia’s transport sector. The system makes business operations more efficient while improving service quality for millions of passengers. Developments like the Russian-built MISHA are setting new standards for managing complex logistics operations.
