The Russian Digital Service Becomes a Nominee for the Prestigious Agritechnica Innovation Awards 2025

A new Russian AI-powered farm‑equipment management platform has been recognized internationally, earning a World Premiere nomination at Agritechnica Innovation Awards 2025

Smart Machinery Management

For any agricultural enterprise, efficiently managing its fleet of farm machinery is both a complex and critical task — especially during the peak field‑work season. Proper utilization shortens production cycles, increases labor productivity, reduces operating expenses and minimizes errors or penalties.

To address these challenges, the Russian office of Syngenta has developed Cropwise AI Machine Manager — a digital platform that optimizes the allocation and performance of agricultural machinery using artificial intelligence. The system analyzes seasonal and daily data, identifies inefficiencies, predicts rental needs and automatically generates optimized task lists.

AI Machine Manager aggregates operational data from multiple sources, including enterprise farm‑management systems and equipment‑manufacturer platforms. It adjusts task schedules in real time, taking into account machine location, weather conditions, operator availability, maintenance needs and agronomic data on crop‑growth stages.

Designed for High‑Variability Field Conditions

The system is engineered for environments where multitasking is constant, conditions change rapidly and fleets consist of many machines. Syngenta’s Russian developers built a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that allowed them to validate real‑world scenarios — from workflow analysis to a functioning prototype.

“When building the service, our goal was to solve two problems at once — strategic and operational. Strategically, we help businesses understand where real bottlenecks in machinery utilization occur. Operationally, we simplify daily planning when there are many machines, many tasks and constantly changing conditions. Our role was to create a working prototype, validate it in the field and hand over a transparent and reliable foundation for further development. It is rewarding to see this work become part of a product that truly helps decision‑making in the field.”

The final solution is based on a fully operational API product that enables seamless data exchange between systems. Pilot testing was carried out with two major Russian agricultural holdings to verify the accuracy of forecasts and scheduling algorithms.

Recognition and the Road Ahead

The platform has already gained recognition within the agricultural technology community. At the Agritechnica Innovation Awards 2025 in Hannover, Germany — the world’s largest agricultural‑machinery expo, welcoming more than 450,000 visitors from 130 countries — the Russian solution received a World Premiere nomination.

Cropwise AI Machine Manager can be deeply integrated into Russia’s emerging autonomous‑farm ecosystem. The country is actively developing unmanned and automated agricultural machinery. Major players such as Rusagro, Cognitive Pilot, Progress Agro and Rostselmash are testing or deploying autonomous driving platforms, computer‑vision systems and precision‑farming automation. The new AI platform can complement these efforts by enabling unified smart‑farm orchestration.

Combined with other digital tools — field monitoring, IoT sensors, process automation — the service contributes to building a full smart‑agriculture ecosystem in Russia.

Support and Export Potential

Government programs also support adoption. Under Russia’s “Regions – Sustainable Development” initiative, agricultural enterprises can be reimbursed up to 20 percent of the cost of domestic software used to optimize transport and logistics.

This strengthens the commercial prospects of Cropwise AI Machine Manager. The service may also find demand internationally — particularly in CIS countries and the Global South, where agricultural automation is expanding rapidly.
