Two Accounts, One Device: Russia’s MAX Messenger Adds New Features
Russia’s national messenger MAX is testing a dual-account feature, designed to balance personal and professional use while meeting strict cybersecurity requirements.

The Ministry of Digital Development announced that users may soon be able to run two MAX accounts on the same device. The option is aimed at separating personal chats from work communications, while making the platform more attractive for business use. With Russia’s digital trade volume having more than doubled in the past four years, MAX is expected to become a key space for promoting goods and services.
Despite being less than a year old, MAX is evolving into a multifunctional digital platform. By comparison, WhatsApp only introduced dual-account support 14 years after its launch.
As of September 2025, MAX’s user base exceeded 35 million.
