Two Leading Russian Tech Companies Join Forces to Advance AI

Russia’s two largest digital players are forming a new alliance in secure generative AI.*

Two of Russia’s most influential technology companies — Sber and Kaspersky Lab — have signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation in generative artificial intelligence at the AI Journey conference. The agreement brings together deep expertise in finance‑focused technologies and cybersecurity, laying the foundation for the country’s first large‑scale partnership centered on safe AI development.

The collaboration aims to jointly advance the GigaChat model and adapt it for Kaspersky Lab’s security technologies. According to Sergei Krylov, Vice President for Technology Development at Sber, “the partnership will help create intelligent tools that are both user‑friendly for millions of people and secure for corporate infrastructures.” He emphasized that the key task is to integrate GigaChat’s capabilities into the partner’s products and turn generative AI into an everyday assistant that operates reliably and without risking sensitive data.

A Track Record of Successful Collaboration

Anton Ivanov, Chief Technology Officer at Kaspersky Lab, highlighted that the companies already have effective joint experience. KIRA — an incident‑investigation assistant built on top of GigaChat — is helping security specialists accelerate forensic analysis inside organizations. The new agreement strengthens efforts to secure large language models and enables the development of mechanisms to counter AI‑related cyberthreats.

Strengthening Technological Sovereignty

The strategic alliance between these two key market players enhances Russia’s technological independence and accelerates the development of secure AI solutions. It also lays groundwork for expanding AI‑driven security products both domestically and internationally.
