Two leading universities in Nizhny Novgorod have joined forces to train specialists in bioinformatics.

Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod and the Higher School of Economics are launching a joint master’s program. The agreement was reached by the rectors of the two universities at a recent meeting. The new program will be titled Bioinformatics.
Students will study simultaneously at two strong institutions. The biological and medical foundation will be provided by the Institute of Biology and Biomedicine at Lobachevsky University, while the Higher School of Economics will deliver advanced IT training.
The curriculum will include programming in Python, work with big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence technologies, and related disciplines.
A Revolution in Medicine
Bioinformatics is one of the fastest-growing scientific fields worldwide. It is transforming biology from a purely experimental science into a quantitative, data-driven discipline. Programming methods and artificial intelligence make it possible to predict genetic mutations and prevent serious diseases. The potential applications are vast and could take medicine to a fundamentally new level globally.
