Construction sites today require specialized executives, professional project managers, operators, technicians, and experts in digital modeling, according to Vladimir Resin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Construction and an advisor to the Moscow mayor. Artificial intelligence can significantly simplify their work, he said, but final decisions and responsibility for projects will always rest with humans. Resin made the remarks in an interview with Parlamentskaya Gazeta.

Automation, robotics, and modular construction are changing the technological profile of the industry, reshaping job functions and raising qualification standards, Resin said. The sector is becoming less dependent on mass manual labor, but demand for higher-level skills is increasing, altering workforce needs in construction.

“We need specialized executives and professional project managers, not just general laborers, but operators, technicians, and digital modeling specialists with the appropriate level of training. We need targeted state support and incentives for employers and businesses to invest in training and dedicated programs. It must be a comprehensive effort where the state, business, and the education system work together,” Resin said.

A Tool in Professional Hands

Significant attention is now being paid to digital transformation in construction, including information modeling technologies and the use of artificial intelligence. These tools increase labor productivity and make the management and execution of investment and construction projects more efficient.

New specialties are emerging as a result. At the same time, mathematicians, programmers, physicists, and information security specialists will continue to be in demand.

“Artificial intelligence is, above all, a tool in professional hands for making balanced decisions and in no way removes responsibility from the project client or expert,” Resin said.

Earlier, we reported that Siberian Federal University and Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering signed an agreement to cooperate in digital technologies for construction and in training a new generation of engineers.
